I used to have a “100 Things About Me” list on one of the many old versions of my site, and after seeing my SIL Deb do it, I figured I would resurrect and freshen it up a bit here in a post.  I am hoping I have the old version saved somewhere, so I don’t have to retype it all!

We did get to see Inkheart on Sunday, and loved it.  I have to finish the book!  I’ve been trying to read it for 2 years, but as usual, I put one book down to read 3 others!  I bought Inkspell tonight, and will get Inkdeath when it comes out in paperback.  I also got the second Fablehaven book, although I’ve yet to read the first.  Again, I started it and got a chapter or two in, then moved on to other things.  I almost bought the Southern Vamp boxed set, but decided not to right now.  It’s $20 cheaper online, so I think will get it off there.  I’ve read them all, and really want to own them and reread them again.  I do love my vampire books!!  My wonderful co-workers gave me a gift card to Barnes and Noble for my bday, and I had one from Xmas.  I LOVE shopping there!  I could spend all day if I had the time.  It’s usually the boys going shopping w/gift cards, so it was nice for it to be me for a change.  However, I did fork over $$ to buy them each a book.  Brecken got something like Froggy Loves Soccer, and Peyton got the new book in the Wimpy Kid series.  Those books are a huge hit w/kids at our school, so I would like to read them myself.  I bought the first two for Peyton at our book fair last year.  I LOVE book fair time at school!  I’m a sucker for books w/cool covers, which is how I ended up with Fablehaven and Horns & Wrinkles.  I think our book fair happens in April.  The kids are able to shop during school, as well as before and after.  We usually have a family night, where the kids come to shop and play math games in their classrooms.

Peyton had his first basketball game tonight, and did pretty well.  It was amazing to see him hustle.  I wish he would do that around here!  LOL :)   He’s still got some learning to do, but it looks like he is enjoying himself :) .  I was able to get off early to see him.  We’ve been having crappy weather this week, so the rural busses didn’t run two days, and we’ve been inside a lot for recess.  Due to the weather, my Skills for Success class was cancelled last night and rescheduled for next week.  It’s a class about dealing w/people of all personality types, dealing w/stress, etc.  I have a class tomorrow, for the primary math program we use.  I am pretty familiar w/it, as I use it w/some of my kids, and have seen it w/my own boys, but it’s nice to find out the reasons why we use these things.  Math is taught in such a different way than I remember it!  We always seemed to just have to “know” the stuff, whereas now it’s all about the strategies.

So I never did post what I got for my bday.  Jason went crazy and got me a Bose Sound Dock for my iPod.   I LOVE that thing!  It’s got such amazing sound, and I’m hearing things in songs that I didn’t really hear before.  I was so surprised.  Really had no clue what he was getting me, but he was very excited about it, and so was I when I opened it!  I saw the box and said, “Is that really what it is?”  LOL :)   My sis gave me a gorgeous H shaped jewelry box that helps silver to not tarnish.  Inside was a really pretty necklace that has two circles on it, etched w/the boys’ names.  My parents gave me a Twilight puzzle, Twilight magnets, Twilight hoodie (w/the Cullen crest on it-WOOHOO!), brown Skechers, a new hand mixer and $ in my card.  I used the money to go towards Little Big Planet for the PS3.  That game is so freaking cute and addictive.  We laugh a lot playing it!  I felt very spoiled this year!

Breck and I went to the dentist this week, and he has more cavities…sigh.  The hygenist said he brushes very well, but for whatever reason, he’s getting cavities.  Peyton, on the other hand, has not always been the best about brushing, but hasn’t a single cavity (KNOCK ON WOOD!).  Next week Breck will get one filled for sure, and we’ll see about the others.  Our dentist needs to check the records from the peds dentist.  I am having our regular dentist do the filling this time instead of the peds.  I’d just prefer to be at our dentist, as there is no reason for Breck to have sedative anymore, which is the only reason we went to the peds in the first place.  Last time we went I asked them to do it without, because I hate the way it makes him get–very loopy, and he can’t walk after.  It’s a lot more expensive to get fillings at the peds too!

Well, I suppose that is enough blabbering for tonight.  We’re catching up on The Mentalist.  I am anxious to get into Lost.  I really have no TV time lately.  We did get done with Sons of Anarchy, which we loved!  Can’t wait for season 2.

Happy Birthday to ME!  I’m officially inching closer to 40 now!  Eeek!  Had a great day, got spoiled, had a yummy dinner at Olive Garden, and an awesome cake made by Jason (chocolate covered canoli).  I will post some pics and what I got tomorrow.  Heading to bed now.  I am glad it’s the weekend and I can rest a bit.  Peyton’s got a lunch/movie/playdate w/2 friends tomorrow, and Breck’s got a playdate w/his friend Randy, sometime after lunch.  Not sure if he’s coming here or Breck’s going there.  Randy was asking me at school all week if he was coming to my house!  LOL :)   I’m hoping we can go to Inkheart at some point (Peyton’s going w/his friends).  Might have to wait until Sunday though.

The birthday boy : )! 1-11-09

Hard to believe my little monkey baby is a big 7 year old!  I’m so proud of all of his accomplishments in school, and even though he can have a monster of an attitude, he is still my little lovey guy : ).  Happy Birthday Breck!  I hope your day is as fun as you want it to be!  We love you!!!

Which way am I going?

Post by: Heather on January 13th, 2009 | File Under Uncategorized

I feel so completely unorganized and like I’m running around with my head on backwards! Breck’s bday has snuck up on me, and it wasn’t until last night that I realized I didn’t even have the plates, napkins, etc., yet! Thankfully my wonderful mom and sis will be picking those things up on their way down Saturday. Jason and I are going out to see “The Unborn” tomorrow, while Dana watches the kids, so we’ll do bday shopping too. Breck also has a speech to practice for school on Thurs., so going to have to get on that as soon as I get home from work, because Dana is picking the boys up after she’s off work. He did do it tonight w/Jason (I had class), but needs more practice. Jason’s got bowling Thurs., and I STILL have to get the guest room ready for mom and sis, so suppose I can do some of that then. I also have to make brownies Thursday night, for Breck’s bday celebration in class Friday. Breck got invited to a bday party early Sat., at the roller rink, so we need to decide if he’s going. If he does, I will probably hang out the whole time, as I don’t know the parents of the boy, although I do know the boy fairly well from school. It would be fun to see Breck rollerskate, since he never has! LOL :)

We did go to the museum Sunday, but only spent about 2 hours there, because we were tired, hungry, and it was PACKED! It was a free entry day, and Jason and I both had headaches from the little kids slamming the little doors that had answers/pics/etc., under them on all the displays. Had dinner at Cinzetti’s–yum!!–and got home fairly early. Breck is wanting to go to the aquarium, so we’ll have to plan a weekend trip there.

I’m still not done putting music on my iPod. Such a time consuming process! I found a case (pictured below), which is pretty cool, just because it’s different. It’s a purple tin, w/a silicone insert and a lid that slides on and off. Not super convenient for constant access to the click-wheel, but good for me when I am listening in bed, because it’s completely covered, and I rarely change what I’m listening to as I fall asleep. I’m really liking all the software changes compared to my first iPod.

TGIF!

I was so happy for the weekend to get here! It’s not like I had a bad week, but just getting into the groove of the first week back after a 2 week break was hard. We were doing some mid-year testing all day Monday and Tuesday, and half day Wednesday, so it threw our normal schedule off. I felt so unorganized this week.

Peyton has Blake over for a sleepover tonight, so I ran to KFC for dinner. It was yummy, but so greasy! It drives me crazy that we have one KFC, and it’s clear across town. We’re waiting on the boys to finish a battle on a Star Wars game so we can start watching The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Not sure what’s going on tomorrow. I’d really just like to be a bum, but I have laundry that needs done, bathrooms that need cleaned, and would possibly like to bake cookies. Sunday, we are going to the Denver Museum, I think. Jason was kind of not wanting to go that day, since the playoffs are on, but Peyton wanted to go then, rather than make Blake go home early tomorrow so we could get down there early enough. He wanted to go last Sunday, but didn’t mention it until 10, and at the time we were in our jammies, eating breakfast. The museum is only open until 5, so we wouldn’t have had enough time to see it all by the time we got there. I’m hoping to buy tickets for the Nuggets game on the 30th. It’s a family night, so you get ESPN Zone game cards and pizza or hot dogs for dinner at the game.

I realized the other day that I do not have any concerts lined up, and it is seriously stressing me out. I know that seems like a weird thing to worry about, but I LOVE going to concerts, and I always seem to have something lined up by now! This time last year it was Duran Duran. I browsed Ticketmaster yesterday, and there was nothing. I guess I’ll keep my fingers crossed that someone I like starts touring soon. Jason wants to see Stephen Lynch when he rolls around again, but other than that, he really has no interest in going to concerts (unless it’s Jimmy Buffett). Hopefully, Crue Fest is on for the summer again!

My new 120GB iPod from Jason!

My new 120GB iPod from Jason!

In less than 24 hours, my Xmas break will be over. I feel like I need another week, since I didn’t get anything done I wanted to (finish Breaking Dawn and scrapbook). I’m kind of thinking about just hanging in my jammies all day, since I don’t have to go anywhere that I know of. Peyton was pushing to go to the Denver Museum, but we wouldn’t have much time by the time we got dressed and down there. If we would have known before 10 this morning that he wanted to go, we could have done it. Maybe we’ll shoot for next weekend.

Yesterday we had poker here, and Jason smoked a pork shoulder, which we topped with a vinegar based sauce. It was amazing! He really has a gift for the grill. Can’t wait to have the leftovers for lunch today. Mom and dad got Jason the Barbecue Bible cookbook, so he used a recipe out of that for the pork and homemade baked beans. I even liked those! I told him we need to always do that instead of buying the canned baked beans. I am not a veggie eater at all, but I do like baked beans (they are the only form of any bean I will eat). I was skeptical about these, because they used Great Northern beans, but wow! Poker was kind of blah for me. Just wasn’t into it, didn’t win, plus I was extremely exhausted from having no sleep the night before. Don’t know what was up, but I tossed and turned all night, finally falling back asleep after 5, until 8:30. The boys got up w/Jason at 4:30, when he was up to start the pork. Breck didn’t make it long, and crashed at 11am, sleeping until 3! Peyton managed to make it until almost 11pm!

This week, as far as I know, I don’t have a whole lot of extracurricular stuff going on. Dana wants me to come over and check out some crafting stuff, so might do that on Wed. She got glass ornaments, which she’s putting paint in and swishing around. I’m hoping to finish transferring music to my iPod in the next couple days, as well as get Breaking Dawn done! I did start on Andy Taylor’s book, because I just couldn’t wait. It’s going to be good!! I need to keep up with my reading as well as I did last year. It’s just hard finding time lately!

Happy New Year!

Post by: Heather on January 1st, 2009 | File Under Uncategorized

**Happy 2009**

**Happy 2009**

It’s about an hour early, but we all ready watched the ball drop in New York, as we don’t have any local networks–just the west and east coasts. For the first time in a few years, we are at home, just the 4 of us, and I like it. We played The Game of Life Twists and Turns, which took forever, because we did 30 years! That’s a bit much. I won with 450,000 life points! We had an early dinner at Silvermine Subs. We went to Chipotle, but they were closed! I could not believe a restaurant would be closed on NYE! We’re watching Borune Ultimatum now, but really could go to sleep. The boys went up to play in the fortress of pillows they made earlier today! Jason thought they’d be out, but they’re still awake!

I slept in until 9:30, but then decided to try my new carpet shampooer mom and dad got me. It rocks!! I did every room except Breck’s. The carpet upstairs feels soft and plushy, like it did when we first moved in. Got the bathrooms cleaned, did some laundry, and finally showered at 2:30! Jason came home at 4, then we ran to the liquor store.

Tomorrow we are going to Jackson’s (restaurant/sports bar) to do the draft for our fantasy playoffs. It’s winner take all ($160), and last year I won it! I also won the brackets. Not sure if I will get that lucky this year. I ended up taking Tom Brady as my first pick last year, so that helped a lot! Can’t believe that Xmas break is almost over. I could use a few more days! We do have the 19th off for MLK Day, which will be nice, because it’s the day after Breck’s bday, and mom and sis will be here.
