Cough, cough, cough…

Cheers!

Cheers!

Really getting sick of this. I hate these cough attacks that practically choke me, and come out of nowhere. I’m ready to be done w/this cold! I kind of slacked off on the Cold Eeze, and am thinking I should have finished off the box.

Our Turkey Day was great. The turkey was so freaking awesome. Jason really is a pro at smoking stuff on the grill. We ate exactly when we had planned to, played Lord of the Rings Risk and Pictionary Jr., and watched Scooby Doo (the movie). Jason went to bed and crashed hard. I stayed up to read a bit, then listened to a Ricky Gervais podcast. I was up early, because I was so congested I couldn’t breathe. No Black Friday shopping for me. I just think it’s insane, plus, we don’t shop that way. We have specific wants, and they are never things that are marked down. I did get my sis’s present, and Jason’s big gift ordered off Amazon last night. Need to get a few things for my parents too. Jason and I will hopefully get out in the next week to get the boys’ shopping done. My parents and sis will be here for Xmas this year, and I am so excited! Having them here is such an awesome present : ).

I started putting up Xmas deco this morning, and had a Xmas station on iTunes playing. Been trying to get more into the spirit. I need go get the rest of the deco out of storage, and see if I can pull the tree out. We will put it up this weekend. It’s kind of early, but with me working, I don’t know when I’d get it all done in a timely manner, so figured I’d use my time off wisely. I am running out to the grocery store after a bit. Was debating on going to Walmart for groceries, but don’t think I even want to mess w/that insanity. I’ll just get a few things I need for dinner. We are having Cincinnati chili for dinner, which I suggested as a joke, because I think Jason ate it 4 times last week, while in Cinci! He said it sounded good though! Jason was going to take the day off, but everyone else did, and someone had to be there. He did come home for lunch, and is hoping to get home around 3. The boys want to play my Disney Monopoly, and I imagine we’ll watch a movie tonight. We finally finished Two Towers, and Peyton got Return of the King out. We have the extended versions, so it takes a while! LOL :)

Suppose I better get back to the decorating and shower before I head to the store.

Dana and I went to see “Twilight” this afternoon, and I absolutely LOVED it! I don’t have one single complaint about it. Rob Pattinson is the complete embodiment of Edward….just amazing. As we were leaving, I heard one girl say, “But the book is sooo much better!” I think people always forget that when they translate books into film, things are going to be cut, certain moments changed, etc., but I am the kind of person that looks at the book and movie as two separate things. I know a lot of people hated “Queen of the Damned”, because it didn’t follow the books much and combined things from another book as well, but I still enjoyed it for just being a good movie. I will definitely go see “Twilight” at the cheap theater, and Jason will go w/next time : ). I bought the soundtrack a couple weeks ago, and have been listening to it nonstop. It was cool seeing the spots they chose to stick the songs in at, and I felt all were very fitting. I need to get my butt in gear and finish Breaking Dawn. Just have not had the time or energy to read, and my DVR is almost full, so I’ve been working on cleaning it off.

On another note, I am PISSED they have cancelled “Pushing Daisies” and “Dirty Sexy Money”. I get so sick of the different, outside of the box shows not getting a break, while we have 700 different versions of CSI, and every other possible law drama out there. All they do is rehash stories from the news. I am happy all our crazy shows from Showtime and HBO are still going, but the wait in between seasons is killer.

Jason brough home a lot of goodies from his trip! The boys got new jerseys and 3 or 4 shirts, plus Bengal footballs. I got 3 shirts, and plastic Bengal mugs. Dana gave me a surprise today too–these really cute earrings that are itty bitty footballs w/the Bengal logo, and a snowman on top. They will be fun to wear to school, to see the kids’ reactions. Jason is cooking dinner at the moment–a kind of scramble w/kielbasa, hashbrowns, eggs, sour cream and some seasonings. I worked w/Brecken to finish his visual aid for his Thanksgiving speech that he has to give tomorrow. I’ve been doing a lot of laundry, as Jason added about 2.5 loads of his stuff and the new clothes!

I am looking forward to this nice, short 2 day work week, and just hanging out w/the family for the rest of it. I’m going to bake my dinner rolls on Wed., and possibly make the pie. I was hoping Jason would make the pie crusts, and don’t know if he’ll get time to do that on Wed. I believe he’s taking Friday off too. Saturday is our city’s Xmas parade, and as long as it’s not snowing, I think we’ll go. Last year it wasn’t snowing, but had previously that week, and it was just downright chilly. We went to a Mexican restaurant after for dinner, and got all nice and toasty. This year we need to remember to take hot chocolate.

We stopped to visit cousin Lauren and baby Tobiah yesterday. That is one of the freaking cutest babies ever! He is such a happy little guy! Can’t wait to see him again!

After a VERY long week, we are off to Denver to pick Jason up at the airport tonight. He’s been in Cincinnati for a class, and got to go to the Bengal game last Sunday. We actually saw him on TV! We have a stop to make on the way to Denver, and will then go visit my cousin and her sweet baby : ). I have not been to DIA for a while, and only at night, so I hope I don’t get lost! We plan on parking and meeting Jason by baggage claim. I’ve been busy cleaning this morning, and really need to get in the shower. I wanted to leave by noon. Tomorrow is my sis’s birthday! Dana and I are going to see “Twilight” in the afternoon. I cannot wait! \

My Beautiful Brits….

I am watching the 100 Greatest Songs of the 80s on VH1, and Duran Duran is at #3 w/Hungry Like the Wolf! Oh yeah! Of course, I think they should be #1, but #3 is still impressive. Oh wow–#2 is Pour Some Sugar On Me, which is one of my top 5 favorite songs, and Livin’ On a Prayer made #1–one of my favorite Bon Jovi songs!! It’s funny how many of these songs I have. I am going through my iPod now seeing what I could add from the list!

My cousin Terry passed away this morning, after a long, 6 year battle w/cancer.  She was my dad’s first cousin, and such a fun, wonderful lady.  We are waiting to hear when the funeral is.  My dad is supposed to come down w/my grandparents.  It will be nice to see dad and the rest of my family, however, I wish it was under happier circumstances.  So tonight, my whole family is in my thoughts.  Love and many hugs to everyone.

Another weekend over…

Post by: Heather on November 9th, 2008 | File Under Uncategorized

The darn weekends just go way too fast.  Jason and I went out on the bikes this morning to get donuts and dinner groceries.  The weather was pretty decent for a November day.  My sis has been here visiting, and we did some shopping this weekend!  I got a couple shirts, one at Maurice’s and one at Target, although I was in search of pants.  I couldn’t pass up Dexter season 2, which was on sale for $18 at Target.  Last night I bought Journey to the Center of the Earth, and we watched it in 3-D.  Very cool!  We watched Iron Man for the second time, so sis could see it.  Jason did some yummy cooking this weekend!  Yesterday he made French toast pockets for breakfast, and baked potato soup for dinner.  Tonight he made this ham and cheese roll-up that he’s been into making lately.  Sis will be going home tomorrow.  Wish she could stay longer.  She brought all her goodies for the craft show.  It’s less than a month away and I have done absolutely nothing to get ready!  I’ll be lucky to do some beading or make some dishcloths.

This week shouldn’t be too busy, I hope.  Jason has Tuesday off, but I have to work.  The kids are out at noon.  I am going to a writer’s workshop from 1-8.  Should be pretty interesting.  A couple girls from work will be there too.  I enjoyed the class I took last week, which dealt with managing classroom behavior.  I have another class coming up, called Skills for Success.  In January, I will start another class that deals w/the math program they use in primary.

This picture is just too cute, so I had to post it.  This is “Itty Bitty”, a baby squirrel that hangs out at my parents’.

Nature rocks…

Today we cleaned out the praying mantis, and to our surprise, we found she had laid an egg sack on the screen at the top of the cage!!  I had to look up info about the sack and babies, because I didn’t think she could do that, being without a mate.  Apparently, they CAN have babies without the mate, and all of those babies will be female.  Everything says the mantis usually dies within a few weeks after laying the sack.  The babies should come out of the sack in the spring, so we will try to keep it going and see what happens!  I am hoping to let them go in our backyard.  I can’t wait to see itty bitty mantises!  “The Little Apprentice” has definitely a fun, interesting “pet” for our family.

Another lazy Saturday…

….and I like it that way!  It’s a gorgeous weather day too.  The boys have been out playing, and just walked down to the school to see if the new playground equipment is done being put in.  Jason and I have been watching “Even Scarier Movie Moments” and “100 Scariest Movie Moments.”  I do have to run to the post office and store.  We are having biscuits, gravy, bacon and eggs for dinner.  YUM!  I got the stuff yesterday to make banana splits too!

Halloween was good.  The weather was awesome!  The boys didn’t need to be layered or wear hats and gloves!  Jason took them out for 2 hours, and we ended up with over 5 lbs. of candy.  We had quite a few kids, and I ran out of candy, so had to dig into the boys’ stuff when they got home!  Our last trick-or-treaters came at 9:10.  I did not get an Alice costume, as I had hoped, so just did my creepy makeup.  I did scare one boy who came to the door.  LOL :)

BOO!

BOO!

Daddy and the boys heading out!
